(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans head volleyball coach Angela Franke announced the 2014 schedule, which features 18 Southern States Athletic Conference matches and four contests against city opponents. The Wolf Pack will play a total of 27 regular season contests, 13 of which will be played at home in The Den.
The team will open the regular season in Houston on Aug. 28-30 to compete in the St. Thomas Tournament followed by a road match against Fisk University on Sept. 1 at 3 p.m in Nashville. The Pack’s home opener is scheduled for Sept. 5 against SSAC opponent Bethel in The Den at 6 p.m and is one of three home matches scheduled from Sept. 5-9. The team will host another SSAC match against Martin Methodist Sept 6 in The Den at 2 p.m for its’ annual Girl Scout Day. The Pack will travel to Mobile on Sept. 9 to play 2013 NAIA Tournament qualifier and Jesuit rival Spring Hill.
The team will travel to Georgia the following weekend to compete against Coastal Georgia (Sept. 12) and Brewton-Parker (Sept. 13), both SSAC Conference games. The Pack will return home to host five matches between Sept. 16-25, including three conference contests.
The Wolf Pack will play four matches against city opponents. The first will be against SUNO in the Den on Sept. 25. The following night the team will play a road match in New Orleans against Xavier, and on Oct. 8 Loyola will play another local road contest against SUNO. The Pack will host Xavier in the Den for the last home match of the season on Nov. 3 for Senior Night.
Loyola will play eight conference games in the month of October, hosting three in The Den - Oct. 10 against Coastal Georgia for the annual Pink Game, Oct. 11 against Brewton-Parker and Halloween night against Belhaven.
The team will finish conference play on the road in Tennessee Nov. 7-8 against Bethel and Martin Methodist respectively. The conference tournament is scheduled for Nov. 13-15 in Montgomery, Ala.
This will be the first season at the helm for Coach Franke who joined the Wolf Pack after two seasons at Mississippi Valley State University as the head women’s volleyball coach, where she led the team to a third place finish in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Eastern Division.
