Jackson, Miss.. – Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team fell to Belhaven University in five thrilling sets on Tuesday night 20-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-21, and 14-16 in a Southern States Athletic Conference match-up at the Rugg Arena.
Leading the Wolf Pack attack was junior middle blocker Sabrina Stansberry who recorded 25 kills, while freshman outside hitter Eva Allen added 11. Senior setter Sam Worsham tallied 50 assists in the offensive effort.
Defensively for Loyola, sophomore libero Becca Burnett notched 38 digs on the night. Freshman Katie Hamilton tabbed 15, while seniors Kailey Tuthill notched 14 digs and Worsham recorded 13. The Pack dropped to 9-4 overall and 1-4 in conference play
Belhaven’s Samantha O’Malley paced the Blazers offense with 15 kills and Taylor Williams had 14. Katherine Owen recorded 25 digs, and O’Malley notched three blocks.
Loyola returns home for a five-match home stand at The Den beginning on Friday at 7pm with conference opponent College of Coastal Georgia. Brewton-Parker College travels to the Big Easy on Saturday for a at 2pm tilt. The Wolf Pack will then face No. 6 Lee University on October 5th, followed by Faulkner University on the 6th, both matches are slated for 7pm. Finally Loyola will play Tougaloo College at 7pm on the 9th to finish off the home stand.
