NEW ORLEANS, La. – Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball standout Corey Gray was named to the Jesuit Honor Roll for the week of December 12-18. The senior guard was one of eight players recognized by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.
Last Saturday, Gray led the Wolfpack to a 95-91 triple overtime win over #21 Xavier University. It was the first time in school history in which the ‘Pack swept the Gold Rush in a two game season series. Gray led the Wolfpack in scoring and minutes played, contributing 23 points and 52 minutes to the winning cause. In addition, he dished out four assists, secured two steals, and grabbed a career high nine rebounds. Gray also scored the game-tying basket at the end of regulation and then 12 points in the three overtimes, including seven in the third.
Currently, Gray ranks #23 on Loyola’s All-Time career scoring list with 1,048 points. Steve Alfonso sits in the #22 spot with 1,072 points. In NAIA Division-I, Gray ranks #17 in free throw percentage (.860), #22 in total three-point field goals made (29), #33 in three-point field goals made per game (2.417), and #40 in total scoring (192). Finally, Gray leads the team in steals, averaging 1.67 per game.
Loyola is 8-4 on the season and returns to action December 29 for an exhibition game at Southern University Baton Rouge at 2 p.m. CST.
