ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern States Athletic Conference honored Loyola women’s basketball players Keiva Council and Jasmine Brewer with multiple season awards, as announced by the conference office.
Council was named to the SSAC’s All-Conference Team. Council led the Wolfpack to a 20-12 season and an appearance in the Southern States Athletic Conference championship game. The junior from Houston, Texas led her team in points (16.9 per game), steals (2.0), assists (4.4) and blocks (0.4). Another of Council’s achievements came in a home game against Dillard University, when she exploded for a school-record 43 points and added a game-high 14 rebounds as the ’Pack made a late comeback to beat the Bleu Devils.
Brewer was also named to the All-Conference Team, while adding Freshman of the Year and 6th Man Awards and being tapped for the All-Freshman Team. Brewer led the team with 6.5 rebounds per game and shot 57.1 percent from the field on the season. She was second on the team with 13.8 points per contest. Brewer achieved her scoring and rebounding marks despite coming off of the bench for the first half of the season, which contributing to her earning the 6th Man Award.
