KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced that Loyola University New Orleans junior Keiva Council was named to its 2011 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball All-American Honorable Mention list.
Council, who last week was named a 2011 NAIA State Farm Coaches' All-America Honorable Mention recipient, led the Wolfpack with 16.9 points and 4.4 assists per game. She also topped the team with 2.0 steals and .4 blocks per contest.
Council’s marquee game came on Feb. 8 as she scored 43 points in a come-from-behind overtime win over Dillard at The Den. In that game, Council eclipsed the 1000-point scoring mark for her career.
Council was also nationally ranked in several categories. She was 20th in assists, 22nd in assists per game, 22nd in total scoring, 23rd in points per game and 31st in free throw percentage.
This season, the Wolfpack went 20-12 and played its way to the finals of the SSAC Conference Tournament after defeating top-seeded Lee University in the tournament’s semifinals.
