ATLANTA, Ga. - Four Wolfpack men's basketball players were honored with conference awards, as announced by the Southern States Athletic Conference office.
Ryan Brock, Corey Gray, Robert Lovaglio and Tommy Stangl were awarded with season awards from the conference.
Brock, a senior from New Orleans, was named to the SSAC All-Conference Team. He was also designated as Division Player of the Year as the top player in the SSAC West. He led the SSAC with 22.2 points per game, and was fourth in the nation in that category. Brock led the team in points, steals and assists, and he was second on the squad in rebounds, finishing three shy of the team lead. Ryan was twice named the SSAC Player of the Week and was featured on the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight National Honor Roll twice. In Loyola's final regular season game, Ryan became the school's second-leading scorer on the all-time list.
Gray earned a number of awards throughout the season, capped by being named to the SSAC's All-Division Team. The 5-10 guard from Greenwood, Ind., was one of the nation's best deep threats, ranking 10th in the NAIA in three-point shooting percentage, at 43.8 percent. Gray was also very efficient from the free throw line, converting on 81 percent of his attempts on the season. He had a career week from Jan. 17-23 as he shot 11-for-15 from three-point range and helped the 'Pack go 2-0 against conference opponents. For his efforts he was named the NAIA Division I National Player of the Week, among other honors.
Lovaglio and Stangl were both named to the conference's All-Freshman Team. Lovaglio shot a team-high 60.6 percent from the field on the season, contributing 10.5 points per game to the Loyola offense. He also led the team in rebounding, at 5.1 per contest. Stangl was another solid distance shooter this season, connecting on 39 percent of his shots from three-point range. Stangl contributed 7.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
