(Frankfort, Ky.) Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball senior Jasmine Brewer and junior Janeicia Neely were named to the 2014 NAIA Coaches’ All-America Team Honorable Mention. This is Brewer’s second All-American Honorable Mention. Neely is now one of seven total recipients in Loyola women’s basketball history. This is the most recent Loyola women’s basketball All-American nod since Brewer and Keiva Council in 2012.
Brewer was named to the 2014 Allstate WBCA Good Works Team and the SSAC All-Conference Team, and garnered SSAC Player of the Week and National Jesuit Player of the Week Honorable Mention earlier this season. Brewer paced her squad this season in average points (13.60) rebounds (7.74) and steals (1.71) per game. She closed the season ranked 23rd in Division I in total rebounds (271), 29th in offensive rebounds per game (3.371), 44th in total steals (60) and 48th in total scoring (476). Additionally, she has made her mark on the Loyola record books. Brewer sits first on the Loyola all-time individual career rebounding list, fourth in individual career scoring and eighth in individual career steals. Brewer also received the Loyola Champions of Character award.
Neely earned SSAC All-Conference Team honors and was named to the 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete list. She led the Wolf Pack in average assists per game (4.29) and now sits fifth in Loyola all-time individual career assists with 345. Neely ended the season ranked 10th in Division I in total assists (150), 27th in assists per game and 47th in total three-point field goals made (59).
