NEW ORLEANS, La. – Loyola University New Orleans today announced that freshman guard Jasmine Brewer was named to the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight Honor Roll for the week of Jan. 10-16.
Brewer, a native of Houston, Texas, had her best week as a member of the Wolfpack, averaging 20 points and seven rebounds in two games. Overall, she shot 14-for-26 from the field while going 10-for-12 from the free throw line.
On Thursday, Jan. 13 against Jesuit rival Spring Hill, Brewer scored 16 points on 6-for-11 shooting with three rebounds and three assists, as the ’Pack opened SSAC play with a 72-59 victory over the Badgers. Two nights later against Xavier University of Louisiana, Brewer went off with a 24-point, 11-rebound showing against the 17th-ranked Gold Nuggets.
Brewer is currently the third-leading scorer for the Wolfpack (13-5, 2-0 SSAC) with 11.9 points per game, and she leads the team in field goal percentage at 58 percent and total rebounds with 117.
The Wolfpack continue conference play on Saturday as they host Belhaven University (13-5, 2-1) SSAC at 3 p.m. in The Den.
The Jesuit Basketball Spotlight pilot project is a nationwide effort to bring greater positive awareness to Jesuit education and mission. This project was developed by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) in response to member institutions wanting to spread the word of Jesuit higher education through the more than 90 basketball games in which Jesuit institutions play each other (men and women) this year.
