(Montgomery, Ala.) Senior Jasmine Brewer of the Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Brewer recorded her sixth double-double of the season in a victory over #23 University of Mobile on Thursday and notched a game-high 16 points en route to a 61-44 win over William Carey University in The Den on Saturday. The senior captain has put up points in double figures for the last 12 contests. She was the top rebounder for the Pack against the Rams and paced her squad in points and rebounds versus the Crusaders.
For the first time this season, Brewer leads the team in points per game (13.95), and remains the team leader in rebounds per game (8.10) and steals per game (1.70). Additionally, she ranks number two in Division I in field goal percentage at 56.3%.
Brewer ranks sixth all-time on the Loyola individual career scoring list (1,553 points), ninth all-time in individual career steals (167) and recently surpassed Trenese Smith to earn the number four spot on the individual career rebounding list (820).
The Wolf Pack (13-7, 7-3 SSAC) has won seven of their last eight contests. They’ve defeated four ranked teams this season and will take on their next ranked foe this Saturday when they travel to #16 Bethel University. Prior to Saturday’s matchup, Loyola will visit Spring Hill College Thursday evening.
