Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball player Janeicia Neely has been named the Kentwood Springs Student Athlete of the Week for the week of November 24. She was also garnered SSAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.
The senior from Kenner, Louisiana joined the 1,000 point club this weekend, when she guided Loyola to its record breaking 112-73 victory over SSAC opponent College of Coastal Georgia on Friday night. She tallied 22 points and three assists, shooting 60% from the field against the Mariners. She also knocked down a trio of three-point field goals and added three rebounds and two steals in the win. Neely helped lead the Pack to an impressive 102-44 victory over conference foe Brewton-Parker College on Saturday afternoon. She notched 12 points, three assists and two rebounds against the Barons and shot 60% from the field for the second night in a row.
Neely is averaging 17.4 points per game on 59% shooting this season to lead the Wolf Pack on offense. She now has 1,029 total career points, which places her just outside the top 10 for career points in Loyola women’s basketball history.
The Kentwood Springs Student Athlete of the Week is awarded to Loyola student athletes who exemplify Ignatian values through excellence in the classroom, in the community and in competition.
