NEW ORLEANS, La. – Three Loyola University New Orleans student-athletes were named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Women’s At-Large First Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of American, which was announced this week. Sophomores Cristiana Krtalic and Chelsea Keene as well as junior Katie Bergie earned first-team honors and are now on the Academic All-America ballot.
Krtalic, Keene, and Beargie earned All-District honors after being named All-Academic. In order to be named a Capital One Academic All-District student-athletes must maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. No student-athlete is eligible until she has complete one full calendar year at her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
Student-athletes are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. In an expanded Academic All-American program, CoSIDA doubled the numbers of student-athletes honored this year, which includes NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA participants on the teams.
