NEW ORLEANS, La. – Emma Larson, a cross country and track athlete at Northampton High School in Massachusetts, has committed to run with the ‘Pack next season.
Larson brings experience to Loyola in a variety of running events. A captain of her high school cross country team, she has also competed in 800-meter and 400-meter sprints events, among several others.
“Emma is a great athlete with great speed and endurance, and she will be an immediate impact for the ‘Pack in the fall. I am excited to have her part of the cross country and track program,” Loyola cross country and track coach Andy Canegitta said.
Larson boasts a top time of 20:10 in the 5K cross country distance. She also has track times of 2:23.98 in the outdoor 800 and 3:11.44 in the outdoor 1000 meters. Her best mile time is 5:44. Among her other accomplishments, she is a member of her school-record relay teams in the indoor 4x400 and the outdoor 4x800 events. She has top-ten times at her school in six events.
Larson’s hometown newspaper named her an All-Star Athlete this past season, and she has been an All-Scholastic student all four years.
