Loyola’s Council Named Jesuit Basketball Spotlight Honor Roll

New Orleans, La.- Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball player Keiva Council was named to the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight Honor Roll for the week ending December 12.

Council, a junior guard from Houston, Texas, paced the Wolfpack to a 76-48 victory over cross town rival the University of New Orleans on Saturday. She finished with 20 points and nine rebounds. It was the second consecutive game that she had 20 points. Council is currently 13th in the NAIA with 4.8 assists per game. She dished out six in the win over the Lady Privateers.

The Wolfpack (8-3) doubled their votes in this week’s edition of the NAIA Women’s Division I Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll. Loyola received 20 votes which was good for 29th in the NAIA. You can catch the Wolfpack in action on Saturday, December 18 against St. Thomas (Fla.) with tip off in The Den slated for 2 p.m.

The Jesuit Basketball Spotlight pilot project is a nationwide effort to bring greater positive awareness to Jesuit education and mission. This project was developed by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) in response to member institutions wanting to spread the word of Jesuit higher education through the more than 90 basketball games in which Jesuit institutions play each other (men and women) this year.
