ATLANTA, Ga. - Loyola volleyball player Gina Gill was named Southern States Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the third time this season after leading the Wolfpack to a 2-0 record for the week.
Gill, a junior from Baton Rouge, La., racked up 35 kills (5.8 k/s) in Loyola’s shutout victories over SSAC opponents Mobile and Faulkner. She hit .403 with only six errors on 72 attempts. Gill also added an ace, two blocks, and 15 digs.
Following Loyola’s 3-0 win over Xavier on Monday, Gill finished the regular season with 631 kills which ranks second all-time at LU for a single season. She only trails Loyola’s all-time kills leader Mary Seals who tallied 695 in 2007.
Loyola (25-13) will be back in action in the SSAC Tournament on Nov. 12 in Gulfport, Miss. The ‘Pack opens up the postseason against Southern Wesleyan at 3:30 p.m. LU knocked off the Warriors 3-1 earlier this season.
