(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans freshman pitcher Kevin Lindsey was named to the SSAC All-Freshman team as announced this week.
Lindsey pitched and played outfield for the Wolf Pack. On the mound, Lindsey (4-9) finished the year with a 4.03 ERA. He tallied 34 strikeouts while pitching six complete games. He appeared in 13 games as a pitcher while logging 80.1 innings in his debut campaign.
At the plate, Lindsey had a .269 average in 26 at bats. He had four runs, three RBI’s five walks, and a triple before a hand injury forced him to play exclusively as a pitcher for the second half of the season.
“Kevin did a great job for us, he gave us a chance to win every time he pitched. He earned his spot as our Friday night starter where he threw against some of the best in our league. He competed every time he took the mound, and we could not have asked for more from a freshman this season,” said head baseball coach Doug Faust.
Lindsey joined the team from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge where he earned All-District honors. He is majoring in biology at Loyola.
