(New Orleans, La.) McCall Tomeny was named to the SSAC All-Tournament team for his play in the conference tournament last week held at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.
Tomeny and Loyola University New Orleans had two games in the tournament as they defeated College of Coastal Georgia 99-72 before falling in the quarterfinals to the #2 team in the country Lee University, 81-63.
Tomeny had a career high day against Coastal Georgia as he scored 40 points and brought down 14 rebounds. He set personal bests in points and rebounds as well as made field goals with 13, and made free throws as he tallied 11.
Against Lee, Tomeny led the Wolf Pack with 13 points, nine rebounds, and two steals as the team’s season came to a conclusion.
Tomeny led the tournament in total points and points per game while finishing fourth in field goal percentage at 52.9%. He also was the conference tournament’s second leading rebounder with an average of 11.5 a game.
The 6-6 sophomore from Baton Rouge was one of six players to make the team as he was joined by Cyrille Sandjon and Nicky McHenry from Faulkner University, Adrian Justice from Emmanuel College, and Duran Bell and Jeremiah Dunnings from William Carey University.
Faulkner University claimed their first ever SSAC Championship by defeating William Carey 67-58 in the title game.
