NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Loyola University New Orleans athletic department was recognized by the NAIA-SIDA and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, earning two awards for their 2009-10 publications.
Loyola earned sixth place for their men’s basketball brochure in the national NAIA-Sports Information Directors of America contest, which was announced over the holiday weekend at the NAIA-SIDA annual convention. Under the direction of Associate Athletic Director Brett Simpson, the sports information department has now earned numerous national awards.
For the Louisiana Sports Writers Association contest, the men’s baseball brochure took third place in the Division IV category, which included Olympic and spring sports. Loyola was the only non-NCAA institution to earn an award in the LSWA contest.
"We're really proud of the recognition that we recently received by the NAIA and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association,” said Simpson. “I want to thank sports information assistant Jamie Bustos, who spearheaded the production of all our media guides. Also, director of creative services, Allee Parker, who designed the cover and photographers Harold Baquet and Tyler Kaufman for their outstanding work. Contributor Richard Thiberville played an important role as well in the production of these publications. I'm grateful for all their efforts.”
The Wolfpack sports information department consists of Brett Simpson, Jamie Bustos, and Richard Thiberville, Jr. All of Loyola’s media guides can be downloaded on their respective athletics page.
