NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball squad (11-15, 1-11 SSAC) continues their road trip to the University of Mobile (10-13, 5-6 SSAC) this weekend in a three game set. The Wolfpack and Rams will play a single game on Friday at 2:00 p.m. followed by a double-header on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
Last week, the ‘Pack swept Blackburn College in a mid-week two game series before dropping three tough conference games at #3 Lee University.
Karson Cullins, Evan Turkish, and Harold Toscano had productive weeks at the plate. Turkish led with nine hits in 17 at-bats, scoring four runs and three RBI’s. Cullins went 8-20 with four runs scored and a team high seven RBI’s, while Toscano finished 6-18, recording three runs and three RBI’s.
Loyola returns to the University of Mobile baseball field for the second time this season. The ‘Pack split a non- conference double-header there on February 7, winning game two 4-3 after losing game one 1-2.
Anthony Asta and Karson Cullins highlighted the series. Asta produced two runs and one RBI on a 3-7 series, as Cullins delivered one RBI, going 4-7.
Trey Campeaux (4-1) earned the victory in the ‘Pack’s 4-3 win over the Rams. This season, Campeaux leads the team with four wins. His ERA of 3.72 is the lowest amongst those with at least 27 innings pitched.
Mobile is coming off of a weekend series win against conference opponent William Carey and a 8-5 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan on Wednesday night. The Rams started the year 4-10, but have won five of their past six games.
Braxton Hamil leads the team with a .372 batting average, while Ryan Waltman has a team high 16 RBI’s. Furthermore, Ryan Parazine (.316), Ryne Phillips (.309), and Cameron White (.319) are all having productive seasons thus far with batting averages above .300.
