Loyola baseball to face off with Jackson State

Evan Turkish and the Pack will face off against Jackson State

(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans will take on Jackson State University in a single game scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5th at The Jackson State University Baseball Stadium in Jackson, Mississippi.

Loyola (6-16) opened March with a three game set against Mobile, but were not able to pick up a victory. Karson Cullins batted .500 for the weekend series with two RBI’s, a run, and a steal.

Jackson State (5-6) is a NCAA Division I school that is coming off a three game sweep of Alabama A&M over the weekend. Prior to the set with Alabama A&M, the Tigers had lost four straight games.

The Wolf Pack are led at the plate by Carmelo LoSauro’s 19 RBI’s. Centerfielder Philip Cazayoux leads the team with 19 runs scored. Cullins leads the team with two home runs and eight steals.

Loyola’s starting rotation of Daniel Posway, Kevin Lindsey, and Jeffrey Castille all sport ERA’s under 4.50 with at least four starts each. Posway tops the group with 21 strikeouts in 32.2 innings.

Desmond Russell is leading the Tigers with nine hits, four runs, five RBI’s and a .281 average. Ethan Bright sports a .276 average with eight hits and three doubles.

Jackson State’s staff is led by Russell’s 2.30 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 15.2 innings of work. Brandon Gregory has a 3.94 ERA in 16 innings this season.
