NEW ORLEANS, Miss. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team (14-29, 1-23 SSAC) heads to Central, South Carolina for a three game set vs. Southern Wesleyan (19-28, 6-18 SSAC) at Dr. C. Keith Connor Field. The Wolfpack and Warriors will play a single game Friday at 6 p.m. EDT, followed by a double header on Saturday at 1 p.m. EDT.

The ‘Pack return after taking both games in Tuesday’s double header at Tougaloo College. Loyola won 6-0 in game one and then 6-5 in game two, completing a four game season sweep against the Bulldogs.

Designated hitter and third baseman Anthony Asta sparked the ‘Pack’s offense for the day. Asta finished 4-8 with three runs scored and two RBI’s. In game two, the junior blasted a two run homerun to left, which was his second of the season.

Brandon Snow looks to continue his hot hitting into the three game set this weekend. In the past five games, the second baseman is 6-18 with three runs scored and three RBI’s.

Probable starting pitcher Trey Campeaux (4-2) also looks to build upon his momentum from his last outing on the mound. In his previous start, Campeaux received a no decision after 7.1 innings pitched against Spring Hill, in which he allowed two earned runs on five hits and struck out three.

The Wolfpack baseball team will play Southern Wesleyan for the first time in the program’s history.

The Warriors have experienced many ups and downs in the past couple of weeks. Southern Wesleyan took two of three games against #2 Lee University on March 30-31, but has lost five straight since; thus, the Warriors have not produced a win yet in April.

Thomas Floyd leads the Warriors with 65 hits, 32 RBI’s and 20 stolen bases. Floyd is batting .376 on the year. Fellow teammates Johnny Horke and Tyler Schwartz have produced solid batting averages as well with .362 and .359 respectively.
