NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball squad (11-12, 1-8 SSAC) will travel to Cleveland, Tennessee to take on conference opponent #3 Lee University (22-2, 9-0 SSAC) in a three game set at Olympic Field. The Wolfpack will play a single game on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a double-header on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
The ‘Pack finished a nine game home stand with a mid-week two game sweep of Blackburn College. Loyola received great pitching and offensive efforts, winning 16-1 on Tuesday and then 13-3 on Wednesday.
Karson Cullins, Evan Turkish, and Garrett Lacour all had productive weeks thus far. Cullins went 6-10 with three runs scored and seven RBI’s. In addition, Turkish went 6-9 with three runs and three RBI’s, while Lacour had four hits in eight at-bats and scored three runs and four RBI’s.
Trey Campeaux (4-1) and Jeffrey Castille (2-1) started for Loyola against the Beavers and earned the victories. Campeaux went five innings and gave up one earned run on four hits, while Castille pitched a seven inning complete game, surrendering three earned runs on five hits. Furthermore, George Smith (1-4) saw relief work in game one, pitching two innings of no hit baseball, striking out three.
The ‘Pack are 0-3 lifetime against the Flames, kicking off the new conference rivalry just a season ago at Segnette. This weekend’s series marks the first time the Wolfpack will match-up against a ranked opponent this year and square off at Olympic Field.
Lee is led by seniors Blake Barber and Roberto Reyes. Barber has a team high .493 batting average with 21 RBI’s and Reyes is batting .330 with a team leading 35 RBI’s.
