Loyola Baseball to Host Blackburn in Two Game Set

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans Baseball squad (9-12) will host Blackburn College (2-3) Tuesday and Wednesday night at Segnette Field. Both games are slated to commence at 6 p.m. CST.

Blackburn marks the eighth and ninth straight game on the Wolfpack’s home turf of Segnette Field. The ‘Pack look to gain momentum before heading on the road this weekend against conference foe Lee.

Second baseman Brandon Snow led the ‘Pack last weekend going 5-12, including a 4-5, one run scored, two RBI perfomrance on Friday night.

The Wolfpack-Beavers competition started in 2002 with Blackburn taking the first game 8-14. However, the ‘Pack lead the overall series 11-4 and have won four straight against the Beavers, dating back to 2010.

The ‘Pack defeated Blackburn College in both games at Segnette last season, winning 12-11 in game one and 8-6 in game two. Snow went 4-5 in the series, recording three runs and three RBI’s. Karson Cullins also had a solid series going 3-8 with two runs scored and two RBI’s. Trey Campeaux earned the victory in game two as Jeffrey Castille picked up the save.

The Beavers earned their first victory this past Thursday against Robert Morris-Springfield after dropping three straight to kick-off the year. Blackburn jump-started their southern road trip with a 6-3 victory over Tougaloo on Sunday.

Blackburn is a NCAA Division III team from Carlinville, Illinois. The Beavers compete in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
