Brandon Snow and the Pack will attempt to qualify for the SSAC Tourney

(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans will take on Emmanuel College in a three game series with their sights set on qualifying for the SSAC Championship Tournament. The teams will play a Friday, April 25th doubleheader at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium on the campus of Delgado Community College starting at 4 p.m. That will be followed by a Saturday, April 26th game with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. at Barrow Stadium across Press Drive from Southern University New Orleans.

The Wolf Pack (25-22, 11-13) enters the final weekend of the regular season in 10th place in the SSAC with the top eight teams qualifying for the conference tournament. Emmanuel (14-30, 6-19) is 13th in the 14 team conference. With only 2.5 games separating the teams currently in sixth through tenth positions in the standings, Loyola could pass four schools and qualify for the SSAC Tournament as a six seed.

Loyola saw their five game winning streak come to an end midweek as they fell 4-1 to UNO. Four unearned runs crossed for UNO in the fifth inning after Loyola jumped in front in the third inning on a Nicholson groundout which scored Cullins. Cullins extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a 2 for 4 game.

Emmanuel enters the series having lost 10 straight games including two midweek games. They fell 2-1 to North Greenville before suffering a 6-5 loss to Point University.

The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team will throw out the first pitch to kick off the second game of Friday’s doubleheader. The Southern States Athletic Conference West Division Regular Season Champion Loyola Wolf Pack concluded their season 23-12, 14-6 SSAC. Their regular season division victory earned them an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament, where they advanced to the quarterfinal round. Loyola’s successful season under SSAC Coach of the Year Kellie Kennedy secured a No. 15 ranking for the squad on the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Postseason Top 25 Poll.
