NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team (9-8) will host Southern University Baton Rouge (4-3) Tuesday night at Segnette Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Wolfpack looks to get back on track after being swept by conference foe Shorter in a three game set. Loyola started the season 6-0 at home and hopes to re-establish the home field advantage over the visiting Jaguars.
Brandon Snow was a bright spot in the series against the Hawks. Snow finished 4-11 with two runs scored, and one RBI.
Last season, the ‘Pack traveled to Baton Rouge to take on the Southern and lost 6-8 in a hard fought game. In the contest, Snow went 2-5 with one run scored, as Philip Cazayoux delivered one RBI and one run scored.
The Wolfpack last defeated the Jaguars April 13, 2010, when they won 8-5 at Southern.
The road tested Jaguars continue their 10 game road stretch to start the year. Southern has followed each of their wins with a loss in their young up-and-down season.
Southern is coming off 2-1 series win over Northwestern State over the weekend. Sunday’s 7-4 win was Southern head coach Roger Cador’s 800th career victory.
Loyola looks to establish their offense in the early innings. This season, the Wolfpack have scored later in games, with 45 of their 92 total runs coming in the fifth and sixth innings.
