CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball squad dropped game one of the three game set 0-9 against #3 Lee University Friday night at Olympic Field. The Wolfpack fall to 11-13, 1-9 in SSAC play, while Lee advances to 23-2-1, 10-0 in conference competition.
The Wolfpack bats fell silent to Lee’s starting pitcher Kris Hall (6-0). Hall earned the victory after pitching eight innings of two hit baseball, striking out 15. Matt Ditsworth (2-3) picked up the loss, lasting six innings and surrendering six earned runs on nine hits, striking out four.
Justin Romaire and Jared Belmonte saw relief work in tonight’s game. Romaire allowed two earned runs on two hits in his one inning of work in the seventh. Belmonte took the mound in the eighth and pitched a hitless frame, striking out one.
Karson Cullins and Evan Turkish picked up the ‘Pack’s lone hits. Turkish reached base twice, going 1-3 with a walk, while Cullins finished 1-4.
Flames batting leader Blake Barber led the team with a 3-5 night, scoring three runs and two RBI’s.
The Wolfpack and Flames resume play tomorrow in a double-header starting at noon.
