(Westwego, La) Loyola University New Orleans baseball team defeated Southern Wesleyan University 3-1 to sweep the series on Saturday afternoon at Segnette Field.

The Pack jumped out to the lead in the second inning as Brandon Snow singled up the middle. He moved to second on a wild pitch before stealing third base. After a Daniel Pappas walk, Peyton Senner singled to the left side of the infield to bring home Snow.

Loyola added another run in the third as Garrett Lacour recorded a one out single and later advanced to third when Karson Cullins followed with his own base hit. Snow hit a sacrifice fly into centerfield which brought home Lacour and gave the Pack a two run cushion.

The Warriors would pull one run back in the seventh as Michael Hyman reached first on a base hit to the shortstop. Toscano fielded, but his throw drew the first baseman off the bag, allowing Hyman to reach. Daniel Posway tried to pick Hyman off, but his throw got away, allowing Hyman to move to third. He then came home to score as Tyler Lollis grounded out to short.

Loyola pushed the lead back to two with a two out rally started by Michael Pfister’s walk. He stole second, then came home as Phil Cazayoux singled back up the middle.

Daniel Posway (5-4) pitched eight strong innings allowing seven hits and one run while picking up the win. Connor Thurman collected his seventh save of the season as he pitched the ninth, only issuing one walk.
