Montgomery, Ala.- Auburn-Montgomery completed the series sweep taking both games of a double header 8-3 and 1-0 Saturday afternoon at the AUM Baseball Complex.
In the first game, the Senators Wes Cook gave up three runs in the top of the first, but settled in to hold Loyola scoreless the rest of the way en route to the victory. Cook (6-3) gave up four hits and struck out six in the outing.
AUM’s Sam Judah had three hits in the game including a solo home run in the top of the second. Judah had a run scoring single in the first inning as part of a five run rally for the Senators. Logan Remson and Chezz McCann each had two hits.
For the Wolfpack, starter George Smith (3-6) took the loss. He gave up eight runs in five innings of work. At the plate, Ryan Scott led with two hits and Tyler Duplantis drove in two runs.
In the second game, Taylor Domengeaux (3-7) was tagged with a hard luck loss as the senior righthander gave up only one run on six hits and struck out two in eight innings.
The lone run of the game came with two outs in the Senators’ eighth. Michael Dugan drove in Charlie Lester for the only run of the game. Dugan led AUM at the plate with two hits.
AUM starter Cody Hall (5-3) got the complete game five hit shutout. He struck out nine in the effort. The Senators improved to 32-15, 13-2 SSAC. They are ranked #17 in the latest NAIA baseball poll.
Loyola (13-30, 5-7 SSAC) returns to action on Tuesday in a double header against LSU-Alexandria. The tilt was moved to Acadiana Ballpark in New Iberia due to field construction at Segnette Field. Wolfpack season tickets will be valid for this game. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
