Loyola Baseball Team Drops First Game in Thomasville

THOMASVILLE, Ga. - The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team dropped game one 11-2 in the three game set vs. Thomas University. The ‘Pack fall to 7-2 overall as the Night Hawks jump to 4-2.

Loyola amassed four hits against the Night Hawks pitching staff, leaving seven Wolfpack runners on base. Philip Cazayoux and Karson Cullins scored one run each. Cazayoux and Evan Turkish went 1-3, while Cullins secured one hit on two at-bats.

It was a tough outing for Loyola starting pitcher Matthew Guerry (1-1). The sophomore lasted 3.1 innings and surrendered six earned runs on six hits. Jonathan Jeanice took over and pitched 2.2 innings, recording two strikeouts and one earned run. Jared Belmonte pitched the final two innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits.

Chris Cravotta of the Night Hawks was a triple short of the cycle today, going 3-5 with three runs scored and three RBI’s. In addition, starting pitcher Trent Stoker lasted 7.2 innings, notching 11 strikeouts.

Play will resume tomorrow at Varnedoe Stadium in a double-header starting at 12 p.m. CST.
