NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball squad (12-29) will travel to Tougaloo College (4-31) Tuesday for a double-header against the Bulldogs starting at 1 p.m. CST.
The Wolfpack are coming off of a tough three game sweep by Spring Hill College in which they lost the series finale 3-2 after 11 innings of play. The ‘Pack were getting men on but could not find the timely hit as demonstrated by leaving 32 runners on base on the weekend.
Loyola looks to halt their current eight game skid against a team they historically have found success against. The Wolfpack are 26-1 lifetime against the Tougaloo Bulldogs, including a two game sweep at Segnette on February 1 of this year.
In game one of the double-header, pitcher Trey Campeaux (4-2) earned the victory after pitching five innings of four hit baseball. He allowed two earned runs on just 55 pitches thrown. Jeffrey Castille (2-1) earned the win in game two after tossing 2.2 innings of no-hit baseball, striking out five along the way.
Brandon Snow, Slade Sanders, and Philip Cazyoux highlighted the series at the plate. Snow finished 2-5 with two runs scored and three RBI’s. Sanders went 3-4 with three runs scored and three RBI’s, while Cazayoux finished 4-5 with four runs scored and two RBI’s.
The Tougaloo contests were the ‘Pack’s most prolific series of the season. Loyola scored 27 total runs while they stymied the Bulldogs to three.
Tougaloo last played on March 28, in which they lost 9-1 to Belhaven. The Bulldogs have been the recipients to six straight losses.
Dustin Porter leads Tougaloo with a .333 batting average, while Nathan Foreman posts a team best 15 RBI’s. Finally, Donnie Norwood is batting a solid .301 on the year.
