New Orleans, La. – Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team travels to Georgia for two Southern States Athletic Conference matches against Brenau University and Truett McConnell College. The Wolf Pack hopes to bounce back from a heartbreaking 3-2 loss at the University of Mobile in the conference opener on Tuesday night.
Currently 0-1 in SSAC, Loyola is 8-1 overall and receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll. The only other SSAC team mentioned in the Top 25 is Lee University who ranks 5th.
Senior setter Samantha Worsham ranks 15th in NAIA in service aces per game (0.710) and 19th in total service aces (25). Freshman Katie Hamilton ranks 17th in hitting percentage (0.376) among all NAIA hitters.
Loyola will face Brenau University at 7pm in Gainsville, Ga. The Golden Tigers are 1-0 in conference play (8-2 overall), defeating Faulkner in three games on Sept. 11th. Also tied for first in the SSAC is the University of Mobile and No. 5 Lee University.
The Pack will then travel to Cleveland, Ga. on Saturday to play Truett-McConnell College at 1pm. The Bears have yet to play a SSAC match and are on a three-match losing skid (0-3 overall), falling to Columbia College, Toccoa Falls College, and Reinhardt University. Truett-McConnell will face Belhaven in two matches on Friday for their conference home opener.
