NEW ORLEANS, La. – Loyola University New Orleans cross country and track head coach Andy Canegitta announced the signing of Vanessa Righeimer out of Chicago, Illinois, as his third recruit for the 2010 class.
Righeimer excelled at Fenwick High, where she lettered three years for the cross country team. As a senior, she was co-captain and went on to be named team MVP and All-Regional. In her junior year, she was named most improved and garnered All-Conference honors.
"I am extremely excited to have Vanessa join our program”, said Coach Canegitta. “She was a two sport athlete (cross country and soccer) in high school, so I believe she has the potential to exceed her high school performances while she focuses on just running. She will definitely push the pack and help improve our team standing next year."
Righeimer had a personal best in the three-mile with a time of 19:05. Loyola’s program best in the event for women is currently at 20:04.
