(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans men’s and women’s cross country teams will return to action on Friday, October 4th at the Watson Ford Invitational. The women’s 6K race will begin at 4:30 p.m. while the men’s 8K race is slated for a 5:15 start. The Watson Ford Invitational is at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Mississippi.
The men’s and women’s teams both captured first place in their opening meet of the season at the Fifth Annual Loyola Wolf Pack Invitational on September 7. Annie Hills, Haley Milsark, Francesca Vaccaro, and Kennedi Henneberger finished in the top eight for the women. On the men’s side, Michael Corso and Patrick Gallagher took fifth and sixth to help propel the men to victory. Loyola was scheduled to run in the LSU Invitational on September 21st, but inclement weather in Baton Rouge forced the cancellation of the meet.
Loyola will be one of 18 schools to compete at the Watson Ford Invitational. They will be taking on Alcorn State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Auburn University at Montgomery, Belhaven, Delta State, Hinds CC, Jackson State, Louisiana Tech, Millsaps, Mississippi College, Mississippi Valley State, North Alabama, Spring Hill, Tougaloo, Victory (Tenn.), West Florida, and Xavier.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to race since it has been four weeks since our last meet. We have been training hard and we look forward to proving ourselves against quality competition at the Watson Ford Invitational,” said head coach Andy Canegitta.
