Memphis, Tenn.- Loyola University New Orleans baseball team dropped a doubleheader against Christian Brother University Saturday afternoon at Buc Field.
In the first game, Brent Goode had three hits, a run scored, and a RBI as the Bucs defeated Loyola 6-5.
Jon-Michael Davis (2-0) earned the win in relief. He went four innings and gave up two runs, one earned and struck out five. Alfredo Arroyo and Rob Maxwell each had two hits for CBU.
For Loyola, Logan Peterson (0-3) took the loss for the ‘Pack. The freshman threw six innings, giving up six runs on 10 hits and struck out one. Tyler Duplantis led at the plate with two hits and two RBI. Ryan Scott, Karson Cullins, and Steve Daigle also had two hits.
In game two, the Bucs scored two runs in the second inning en route to a 2-1 victory.
Starter Lee Paine (1-0) got the victory giving up only three hits in six innings of work and surrendering one run. Aaron Short earned his second save of the season thwarting a rally by retiring both Wolfpack hitters that he faced.
Caleb Burrow and Brent Goode each had two hits for CBU (4-2).
For Loyola (6-9), George Smith (2-2) took the loss in a solid outing. The junior lefty gave up two runs on six hits and struck out five in six innings.
The series concludes with a single game on Sunday. First pitch at Buc Field is slated for Noon.
