Wolf Pack add Alexis Hazard to incoming class of 2013

(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans head women’s golf coach Lisa Tinkler has announced the signing of Alexis Hazard to the signing class of 2013.

Hazard joins the Wolf Pack from Pensacola Catholic High School in her hometown of Pensacola, Florida. Trae Cary coached her high school golf team as she went on to lead them to three FSHAA District and Regional Championships. Her high school squad was A finalist at the FHSAA State Tournament. Hazard has numerous top five finishes in her high school career including first place at the district championship in October 2011.

The daughter of Greg and Mary Hazard is also a fantastic student and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was also lettered for excellence in academics during her freshman and sophomore years.

Her most recent victory came at the First Tee Pensacola City Championship as she shot 74-76 and won the tournament by five strokes. She also has a third place finish at the National Junior PGA Championship Azalea City where she shot a 88-78. In July of 2011, she had another third place finish at the Jr. PGA Championship Section qualifier with an 83 first round score and an 88 in round two.

Other top five finishes by Hazard include the 3rd Annual Downing Gray Cup, 2nd Annual Downing Gray Cup, First Tee Perdido Bay/Tiger Point, SJGT Lakewood Junior Classic, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Tournament, ECJGT Medicus Cup Spring Championship, 2010 FHSAA District Finish, Tom Dorsey Winter Classic, and FCA High School Golf Classic in 2010 and 2011.

“Alexis is a fantastic signing for Loyola as she exhibits everything the University looks for in a student-athlete. She looks to challenge herself in the classroom and on the golf course,” said Coach Tinkler. “On the course, she has proven she can win tournaments and compete with some of the best juniors in the country.”

Hazard is the second signing for the 2013 class of the women’s golf team as she joins Sarah-Anne Smurlick, who signed last week. The women’s golf team will conclude their season at the SSAC championship tournament on Monday and Tuesday April 22nd and 23rd in Montgomery, Alabama.
