(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball team travels across Freret Street to take on Tulane University at 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 3rd at Devlin Fieldhouse. Fans are encouraged to come out to the St. Charles Room in the Danna Student Center for a pregame pep rally beginning at 5 p.m.
Loyola (0-1) is coming off a buzzer beating 79-78 loss to Carver College in their opening game of the season. Derek Douglas drilled a three with .4 seconds left to lift the Cougars to the win. Junior McCall Tomeny led the Pack by scoring 31 points and pulling down a career high 15 rebounds. Sophomore Austin Roark set career highs with 19 points and 10 rebounds for Loyola.
Tulane will be opening their season with the exhibition contest against the Pack. The Green Wave will be without their top four scorers from last season including first team All-Conference USA Player Josh Davis and second teamer Ricky Tarrant. Junior Tre Drye is the team’s top returning scorer as he comes off a season where he averaged 4.6 points per game. The Green Wave have added seven new players for the upcoming season.
The two teams met up last season with the Green Wave winning 69-57 on their home court. Loyola fell behind 41-22 at halftime, but were much stronger in the second half outscoring Tulane 35-28. Kyle Simmons led the pack with 15 points while Robert Lovaglio poured in 14. Daniel Kuhl came off the bench to add 11. Davis scored 17 points and pulled in 16 rebounds to lead Tulane. Kendall Timmons scored 18 and Tarrant tallied 11.
