(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball team will head across town to take on 19th ranked Xavier University of Louisiana at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19th at Xavier’s Convocation Center.
Loyola (0-3) hopes to rebound from back to back road conference losses to Faulkner University and Auburn University at Montgomery. The Pack played 13th ranked Faulkner close with three opportunities to tie the game in the last minute before falling 60-55. Kyle Simmons and Jalen Gray led with 12 points apiece. Loyola held the Eagles to their lowest point total of the season and only allowed them to shoot 32.5% from the field. On Saturday, the Pack played a close half against AUM, trailing 34-32 at intermission, but the Warhawks pulled away for the 77-57 victory. Daniel Kuhl topped the Wolf Pack offense with 18 points, one point shy of equaling his career high.
McCall Tomeny leads the Wolf Pack, scoring 31 points and grabbing 15 rebounds per game. Simmons follows with nine points per game and a team best two assists a night. Roco Gandara averages five rebounds and a Loyola high 1.3 blocks per tilt.
Xavier (4-0) is coming off a 86-73 victory over Wiley College. The Gold Rush had four players in double figures led by 23 from Xavier Rogers. RJ Daniels had 17 while Morris Wright and Sydney Coleman each scored 16.
Coleman, Rogers, Wright, and Daniels are all averaging double figures led by 16.5 points per game from Coleman. Coleman and Oliver Siewe are tied for the team high in rebounds, averaging 5.5 per contest. Rogers tops the Gold Rush with 4.5 assists per tilt.
