(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans volleyball head coach Tommy Harold announced the signing of Katie Phillipi, who will join the Wolf Pack volleyball team in the fall of 2013.
Phillipi is from Metairie, Louisiana and will join the Wolf Pack after a four year career at Haynes High School. She was named all-district for four consecutive seasons as a Libero and Outside Hitter. In addition to her athletic prowess, Phillipi was the Senior Class President at Haynes High School.
Katie Phillipi plays club volleyball for Cajunland Volleyball Club including a team coached by head coach Tommy Harold. Harold said, “We are excited to have Katie join us in the fall and for the next four years. She is a dynamic competitive player who fits well with our style of play. Katie is a very well rounded student-athlete and we couldn't be happier to have her as part of the Pack.”
Phillipi is the granddaughter of Lou Klein who was a professional baseball player from New Orleans and played with the St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, and Philadelphia Athletics from 1943 to 1951.
Phillipi is the second member of the 2013 signing class after Loyola announced they had signed setter Ainsley Marroccoli last week.
