Loyola to kick off three game set against Belhaven with fireworks

Jeffrey Castille will be on the mound for the Wolf Pack in the series opener

(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans will take on Belhaven University for a three game set starting on Friday, March 8th at 6:00 p.m. at Segnette Field. After Friday’s game the Wolf Pack will host a fireworks spectacular. The two teams will then play a doubleheader on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Loyola (6-17, 2-7) enters the SSAC contest after falling to Jackson State on Tuesday evening. Garrett Lacour had two hits for the Wolf Pack in their 6-3 defeat.

Belhaven (12-12, 1-5) comes into the game having dropped three straight to Tennessee Wesleyan and Lee University. However, there last victory was a 1-0 win over Lee as Chris Good pitched a two hit shutout to propel the Blazers over the third ranked team in the country.

Karson Cullins leads the Pack with eight steals. Brandon Snow returns to action this weekend while leading the team with a .361 average. Carmelo LoSauro tops the squad with 20 RBI’s and Philip Cazayoux and Britt Pellegrin share the team lead with 19 runs.

Daniel Posway, Kevin Lindsey, and Jeffrey Castille all have an ERA below 4.50 for Loyola with over 27 innings pitched. Posway leads the staff with 21 strikeouts in his 32.2 innings.

Jason Hicks leads the Blazers with a .369 batting average on 24 hits. Bud Britt has the team lead with 16 RBI’s while Reagan Rutledge has the edge with 19 runs scored.

Josh Rogers anchors the Belhaven staff with an ERA of 2.00 over 27 innings with 17 strikeouts. Robert Marzoni has a team high 24 strikeouts in 20 innings of work while sporting an ERA of 4.50.
