(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans will head to Alexandria for a midweek doubleheader against LSU Alexandria starting on Tuesday, April 2nd at 3:00 p.m.
The two teams played a doubleheader at Segnette Field on March 19th with LSUA managing to win both games. LSUA won game one of the series 6-3 despite Karson Cullins having a 2 for 4 game with a run and a RBI . Conor Thurman pitched in game two of the series and allowed only two runs in 5.2 innings, but the Wolf Pack fell 2-1 as the Generals scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning for the go-ahead run.
The Wolf Pack will hit the road again after an eight game homestand. They will finish the season with 13 of the final 16 games on the road starting with the doubleheader against LSUA. Loyola enters the game against LSUA after playing against #1 Lee University over the weekend. The Wolf Pack fell to Lee in all three games of their SSAC matchup.
LSUA, who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA national poll, have won 10 of their last 11 games. The lone loss in that stretch came 5-4 against Texas College in the Generals’ latest series. LSUA finished that series with a 5-1 victory over Texas College.
The Wolf Pack are led by Cullins who has a .333 average, 48 hits, 3 home runs, and 28 RBI’s. Philip Cazayoux tops the squad with 27 runs.
James Sloan leads the Generals with a .336 average and 30 runs. Nick Jones has hit four home runs while Jay Bell leads the squad with 26 RBI’s. Bell also is 17 for 19 on the base paths this season.
Daniel Posway will get a start for the Wolf Pack after being rested in the weekend series against Lee. Posway has a 5.69 ERA in 49 innings and is tied with Joel Buhler for the team lead with 30 strikeouts. In his last outing, Posway started by throwing a no-hitter for the first four innings and ended up pitching a complete game against #9 Faulkner
Stefan Porche has seven saves for the Generals and boasts a 1.69 ERA out of the bull pen. Corey Thomas is 7-1 in eight starts this year with a 2.51 ERA. Ryan Waters leads the team with 55 strikeouts in 52.1 innings.
