Loyola men’s and women’s golf to open spring season in Texas

(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans men’s and women’s golf teams will travel to Victoria, Texas on Sunday, Feb. 16 to participate in their first spring tournament of the 2014 season when they compete in the 2014 Claud Jacobs Invitational hosted by the University of Houston-Victoria. Tournament action will take place through Monday, Feb. 17.

The women's event is set for The Club at Colony Creek. The Wolf Pack women competing include freshmen Alexis Hazard, Megan Keck, Julchen Narwark, Sarah-Anne Smurlick and sophomore Alexis Vega.

The men's tournament will take place at Victoria Country Club. The men representing the Wolf Pack will be freshmen Keith Burkard, Hunter Crochet, Valentin Riebesell, Kyle Szyhowski and junior George Ramirez.

The tournament is an exclusive NAIA event with 18 men's teams and 17 women's teams competing. The men's field includes nine schools currently ranked in the NAIA preseason top 25, while the women's field will have six teams in the top 25, including host UHV, in the field. UHV enters the spring ranked No. 21 in the nation.
