Loyola men’s basketball falls to #15 Lee, 74-65

Cleveland, Tenn.- Lee University remained undefeated on the season as they downed Loyola University New Orleans 74-65 in men’s basketball Friday night in the Paul Dana Walker Arena.

For Lee (8-0, 3-0 SSAC), Will Barnes led all scorers with 28 points. He converted 11 of 19 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds. Chase Dunn and Corey Billingsley contributed 12 points each.

For the Wolf Pack (5-3, 2-1 SSAC), Robert Lovaglio and McCall Tomeny each scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds. Kyle Simmons had 12 and played all 40 minutes in the contest.

Loyola committed only six turnovers in the game, while forcing the Flames into 16. Lee had a 46-35 advantage in rebounds and held the Wolf Pack to 32.4% from the field. The Flames converted 48.2% of their shots in the game. Loyola led 32-29 at the half.

“Give Lee credit for a strong second half. We have to put this game behind us and bounce back and focus our efforts on Southern Poly tomorrow,” said Loyola head coach Dr. Michael Giorlando.

Loyola will play another ranked opponent when they travel to Marietta, Georgia to face Southern Poly on Saturday. The Hornets are ranked 6th in the preseason NAIA poll. Tip off between Wolf Pack and Hornets is slated for 5 p.m. EST.
