(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans head men’s and women’s cross country and track coach Andy Canegitta announced the additions of Christian Lynch and Alexander Morano.
Christian Lynch joins the Pack after competing for the past two seasons for head coach Johnny Foreman on the Gilman School track and field teams. Lynch specializes in jumps as he posted personal bests of 21-6 in the long jump, 5-8 in the high jump and 42-3.75 in the triple jump. He is one of the top ranked field athletes in the MIAA conference and the state of Maryland.
Lynch, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, also won conference championships for two straight seasons as a member of the Gilman School football team. He will compete as a sprinter and jumper for the Pack.
"Christian is a talented jumper that will be a huge boost for our program. He is coming off an injury but still posted some very good marks his senior year. I feel that he has tremendous potential to help us immediately,” said coach Canegitta.
Alexander Morano joins the Wolf Pack distance program as he ran cross country and track at LaGuardia High School. Morano hails from Staten Island, New York, and ran for coach Ian Srebnik at LaGuardia. Morano posted the best 5K cross country time of his career this season when he finished in 17:56.
Morano excelled in track as well, tallying times of 4:58 in the mile and 10:33 in the 3200m event. He is the son of Carmine and Elizabeth Morano.
“Alex will add depth to our men's distance program. He is a promising young athlete who has shown he is willing to put in the training. He will have the opportunity to make an instant impact for the Pack,” said coach Canegitta.
