NEW ORLEANS, La.- The Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball team (5-3, 2-0 SSAC) travels this weekend to play a pair of Southern States Athletic Conference games. On Friday, the Wolf Pack will face Lee University and Southern Poly University (3-4, 0-2 SSAC) on Saturday.
Last week, sophomore McCall Tomeny’s last second shot gave Loyola University New Orleans a 78-77 victory over Webber International on Saturday at the ICI Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. Robert Lovaglio had a game high 22 points making it his fifth game scoring 20 or more points for the season. On Tuesday, Loyola fell to Tulane 69-57 in an exhibition game with sophomore Kyle Simmons scoring a game high of 15 points.
Lee University is coming off a 67-55 win over Mobile on Saturday, November 17. Lee had two players scoring double digit points, Will Barnes with 20 and Chase Dunn with 16. The Flames are perfect on the season with a 7-0 overall record and 2-0 in the SSAC. They are ranked 15th in the NAIA preseason poll. Tip off for Friday’s game is set for 7:30 p.m. EST in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Last time out, Southern Polytechnic State University had four players in double digits in a 87-79 loss to Pensacola Christian College on Tuesday. Prior to taking on Loyola, SPSU will face Spring Hill College Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Poly is ranked 6th in the preseason NAIA poll. Tip off between Wolf Pack and Hornets is slated for 4 p.m. EST in Marietta, Georgia.
