Norcross, Ga. – The coaches in the Southern States Athletic Conference picked Loyola to repeat as SSAC West Division Champions in a poll released by the league.
Loyola received 35 total points, nine points ahead of William Carey and 11 points ahead of Mobile. Rounding out the West Division were Belhaven (22 points), Faulkner (21 points), Spring Hill (12 points), and Auburn Montgomery (7 points).
Loyola was picked third in the poll consisting of all SSAC members. Southern Poly was picked top team in the conference with 151 votes with Lee a close second at 147. Loyola captured 124 votes as the top West Division team.
Returning from a 20-10 record last season, the Wolf Pack (2-0) started the 2012 campaign with a pair of wins over the weekend. On Friday, Loyola defeated Carver College 78-54 and Morehouse College 74-69 in overtime on Saturday.
The Wolf Pack will travel to the University of Louisiana Lafayette at 7pm on Tuesday, November 6 in an exhibition game. Loyola will then return home to face off against cross-town foe Southern University of New Orleans in a non-conference tilt at 7pm on Friday, November 9th in The Den.
