New Orleans, La. - The Loyola University New Orleans women’s tennis team hosted William Carey in GCAC action on Saturday, and fell by the score of 8-1 at the Goldring Tennis Center.
The results were much of the same as the last time the two met, with Rachel Crump picking up a win in singles over Kaci Lancaster 6-1, 6-4. Loyola (3-8, 3-6 GCAC) came close to winning the No.1 doubles match, but Claire Landry/Katie Beargie dropped the match 8-6 against Alexandra Kaluza/Anastasia Khabirova.
William Carey (11-4, 8-2 GCAC) completed the sweep in doubles action with Hannah Neal/Frances Bonnin falling 8-1 to Hollie Robinson/Jillian Fletcher and Frances Sweeney/Rachel Crump losing 8-4 to Hannah Johnson/ Ami Bareford.
In singles, Landry fell 6-0, 6-2 to Kaluza, Neal lost 6-1, 6-0 to Robinson, and Bonnin dropped her match 6-0, 6-1 to Khabirova. Beargie had a close match with Johnson, losing the first set 6-4 and forced a tiebreaker in the second before falling 7-3. For the final singles match, Frances Sweeney lost 6-1, 6-1 to Fletcher.
Loyola returns to action on April 17 with a GCAC doubleheader in Mobile against Spring Hill College and the University of Mobile.
