(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans head men’s and women’s cross country and track and field head coach Andy Canegitta has announced the additions of Andrea Channell-Hampton, Mirin Brown, and Patrick Gallagher to the 2013 signing class.
Channell-Hampton will join the Pack from Collierville, Tennessee. Channell-Hampton attended the Hutchinson School in Memphis, Tennessee where she ran track for head coach Donielle Albrect. She specializes in sprints having set personal bests of 14.06 in the 100 meter dash, 19.6 in the 200 meter dash, and 1:06.56 in the 400 meters.
Channell-Hampton has also been a fixture in the community as she has volunteered on the board of the Philanthropic Literacy as well as volunteering with Bridge Builders, Wilson Society, Global Ambassadors, Girls Inc., Youth United Way, Company D, and Shoestringz Camp. She also was a member of the Community Service Club for three years and the Key Club for one year.
“Andrea is a sprinter from Tennessee, who has the drive and focus to be a solid runner down the road. We look forward to working with her on the track and in the weight room to develop her as a sprinter in our program,” said coach Canegitta.
Brown comes to the Wolf Pack after spending four years as a member of the track and field team at Pittsford-Mendon High School in Pittsford, New York. She participated in field events for head coach Joshua Dougherty. She holds a personal best of 5-0 in the high jump and 10-0 in the pole vault. Brown won All-League honors in the high jump during her senior season. She also was a sectional champion in the pole vault and holds the Pittsford-Mendon indoor and outdoor school records in the event. She was named MVP of her track team in both 2010 and 2011.
“Mirin is a solid pole vaulter who will be our second in this year’s incoming class. She has the potential to do well at conference and get a chance to reach the qualifying standards for nationals,” said Coach Canegitta.
Channell-Hampton and Brown will join Maddie Guidry, Kennedi Henneberger, Courtney Jicks, and Haley Milsark in the incoming class for the women’s track and field team.
Gallagher will join the Pack from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota where he ran for Mike Harris. Gallagher posted a personal best time of 2:01 in the 800m. He also set career marks this year with times of 4:38 in the 1600m and 16:56 in the 5000m.
“Patrick is a talented runner who will add depth to our cross country program. I also look forward to seeing him make an impact on our distance team during track season,” said Coach Canegitta.
Gallagher will join Christian Lynch and Alexander Morano as 2013 signees with the men’s track and field team.
