Freese took 4th place as the Pack set two new records on Saturday

(Hattiesburg, La.) Loyola University New Orleans set two school records on Saturday at the Southern Mississippi Invitational at the USM Track and Field and Soccer Complex.

Freshman Justin Johnson set the school mark in the 200m dash as he raced the event in 22.72 seconds. That was .03 seconds faster than Claude Nelson’s school mark which was set last season at the Southeastern Invitational on April 19th, 2013.

Toren Arnold took down the school’s record in the 800m when he ran a 2:00.31 mark. The previous school record had been held by Joe Kutner since 2002. Kutner ran 2:02.42 at a race in Dallas, Texas and had sat in the record books until the freshman moved to the top on Saturday.

Michael Corso took third place in the 5000m race with a time of 16:09.09, less than a second off the school record which was set by Paul Freese last season.  Freese finished the race in 16:20.88 which was fourth in the race.
