NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Loyola University New Orleans track team will compete in their second and final scheduled indoor track meet of the season Friday when they travel to Lake Charles, Louisiana to compete in the McNeese Jeff Davis Bank Indoor Invitational.
The event hosted by McNeese State will take place on their main campus inside the Ralph O. Ward Rec-Complex. The meet is expected to get underway at 3 p.m.
Teams entered include Texas Southern, Louisiana Lafayette, Nicholls State, Grambling, Southeastern Louisiana, Dillard, Texas-Pan American, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Northwestern State, Southern Baton Rouge, Southern New Orleans, and Arkansas Baptist.
Sarah Tortorich, Raquel Derganz-Baker, William Maye, and Tucker Scott plan to tackle the 200m and 400m dash. Middle distance runners Emma Larson, Elysia Pendezec, Mario Ramirez, and Kenny Tsao will take on the 800m race. Tsao will also join teammate Galen Westerfield in the one mile race.
Furthermore, Elizabeth Gienger, Denise Powell, Vanessa Righeimer, and Chris Graugnard will represent the ‘Pack in the 3000m and one mile events, with Michaelo Corso and Dylan DiMartino in just the 3000m competition. Finally, Carlos Flores will try to qualify in the shot put.
Multiple-event standout Harley Augustine will not participate in Friday’s meet as she preps and rests for the upcoming outdoor season. Augustine broke a 13 year old Loyola record in the shot put at the Birmingham Indoor Invitational January 26, when she threw 28-9 feet. The old record of 27-2 ¾ feet was set by Meghan McNamara.
