(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans baseball team will travel to Mobile, Alabama for a three game weekend series against the University of Mobile. The series starts at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1st and continues with a Saturday doubleheader, first pitch is slated for noon.
The two squads played a non-conference doubleheader earlier in the season with the Rams coming away victorious in two close contests. In game one Loyola was down two with two runners on the base paths but was not able to get the key hit in the bottom of the seventh inning, losing 6-4. In game two, Loyola jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and led until the seventh when the Rams put eight on the board to win 10-5.
Loyola (6-13, 2-4) enters the conference matchup having defeated William Carey in the first of a three game series before falling in the final two games. Evan Turkish batted .500 for the series with two RBI’s while Karson Cullins had a .455 average for the Wolf Pack.
Mobile (7-8, 1-5) plays host to the Pack despite having lost seven of their previous nine tilts. However, they came away with a victory the last time they took the diamond in a non-conference midweek matchup against Spring Hill. They defeated the Badgers 12-3 as Jacob Knowles and Cole Vaughn combined to throw seven innings while striking out six and allowing six hits and one run.
Philip Cazayoux has scored a team best 18 runs while second baseman Carmelo LoSauro has knocked in 17 RBI’s. Turkish is batting .386 to lead all Wolf Pack players with more than 12 at bats. Cullins has hit two home runs while also leading the squad with six stolen bases.
Daniel Posway is leading all Wolf Pack starters with a 2.83 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 28.2 innings of work. Kevin Lindsey has been great in his last two appearances as he worked a combined 15 innings while only giving up two runs and earning two victories.
Ryan Parazine is leading the Rams this season with an average of .350 in addition to being tied for the team lead in runs with 10. Braxton Hamil also has 10 runs to go along with his squad best 10 RBI’s. Hamil is one of five different players who have hit a home run for Mobile.
Jeffrey Price is leading the Rams pitching staff this season with a 0.61 ERA in 14.2 innings of work out of the bullpen. Ryan Hines has 32 strikeouts and a 3.80 ERA out of the starting rotation.
