(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team fell short in two hard fought matches on the final day of the University of St. Thomas Tournament.
The Wolf Pack fell to Montana Tech 21-25, 18-25, 27-25, 25-19 to start the second day of tournament play. Senior Sabrina Stansberry led the attack with 14 kills. Sophomore Eva Allen added 12 and freshman Wren Overesch turned in nine. Freshman Katie Philippi recorded 10 digs while Overesch, freshman Daniela Leal and senior Becca Burnett each tallied nine.
In their final match up of the tournament, Loyola fell in five sets to tournament host University of St. Thomas 28-26, 21-25, 23-25, 26-24, 14-16. Stansberry posted 11 kills, leading the offense for the second match of the day. Allen tallied 14 and sophomore Kaitlin Mohr chipped in with 11. Sophomore libero Kaylin Storey led the passing effort with 25 digs while sophomore Kate Hamilton added 19.
Loyola will return to action on the road on Monday, September 2 in San Antonio, Texas when they face Our Lady of the Lake at 12 p.m.
